Scope | acp is a south-to-south cooperation programme which focuses on building capacities, sharing knowledge and forging partnerships among like-minded stakeholders, in order to boost financial resources for UNCCD implementation.
The programme is the UNCCD component of a multi-partner initiative funded by the European Union, entitled, 'Capacity Building related to Multilateral Environmental Agreements in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries' (ACP MEAs). scope|acp is funded by the European Union, and coordinated by the Global Mechanism.
In practice, scope | acp aims to foster South-South Cooperation to mobilize southern resources to the benefit of the South by building capacity around issues close to the heart of those involved, such as empowerment of local communities, decentralized cooperation and adaptation to climate change. The programme places special emphasis on the participation of the most vulnerable groups such as women or youth.
In particular, scope | acp aims to strengthen the capacities of ACP country stakeholders to:
- build interregional bridges on key cross-cutting and horizontal thematic issues to support NAP implementation process;
- mobilize resources for UNCCD implementation, including through the formulation and implementation of financial partnership strategies for NAP operationalisation and by developing integrated financing strategies for SLM in selected countries.
Scope | acp Website
The GM has designed a dedicated website on scope | acp as a tool for engaging stakeholders in decision-making processes related to SLM finance in ACP countries.
The goal of the scope|acp website is to provide national and local actors with the necessary tools to enhance the utilization of existing resources as well as to increase access to new and innovative financial resources for SLM.
scope|acp offers the user a platform to support information flow, exchange of experience and knowledge management in the framework of South-South Cooperation to strengthen the implementation of the UNCCD. It is founded on three pillars: i) capacity building; ii) knowledge management; and iii) strategic partnerships. It offers an overview of relevant experience and talent available, as well as key information to boost development in ACP ountries.
The website opens a door to an interactive community of ACP country stakeholders and their partners. Training and exchange of experiences are facilitated through the Sustainable Land Management-Finance (SLM-F) innovative and participatory tool.
SLM-F enables the user to learn, create projects, communicate, share opinions, knowledge and experience, interact with relevant actors, find financial opportunities, and much more.
Local and national actors will find relevant information on funding resources, and procedures for developing partnerships. News, articles, documents, projects, and a whole lot more can be uploaded, shared and discussed. Each user can plan their individual training.
