The GM is organizing a side event on Integrating Sustainable Land Management into Climate Change Financing, together with key development partners including the UNCCD Secretariat, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies (WOCAT) at the margins of COP 10, on Friday 14th October, 2011. The event will take place in Conference Room MET-04 between 1 and 3pm.
The key objectives of this event are to:
- Present successful experiences and lessons learned with illustrated examples from Affected Countries on how SLM has been integrated into climate change adaptation and mitigation from policy, programming and financing points of view;
- Share emerging opportunities and new directions on SLM and climate change adaptation and mitigation from policy, programming and financing points of view; and
- Identify opportunities for scaling-up joint efforts and strategic partnerships.
The event will take the form of an interactive dialogue discussing key lessons, opportunities and new directions for integrating SLM into climate change financing mechanisms. It is expected that participants will identify joint initiatives and opportunities during the side event for integrating SLM into climate change financing and investment frameworks.
